Grass Seed

With all of their amenity and turf seed mixtures blended on their site in Yorkshire and with fast delivery you can be assured of a high quality product delivered quickly to your requirements.  They offer a wide spectrum of cultivars from many breeders worldwide, all recommended by the STRI or the British Society of Plant Breeders.

Grass seed Technical Data Sheet details a range of standard grades for the golf industry, however bespoke and other mixes can also be quickly supplied. 

The Coldstart product is an innovation that can be used year round growing in temperatures down to 5°C with excellent wear recovery and disease resistance making it suitable for golf tees and fairways.  

Wild Flower mixes are also available which provide important habitats for pollinating species.

Coldstart Mix 100

Coldstart can be used all year round on tees, fairways or any area that receives heavy wear, through summer and winter. The mix contains Colosseum and Ceretec Centurion dwarf perennial ryegrass. Gives rapid germination, winter active down to 5 deg C and disease resistant.

Golf Greens

HG.1A Premium Greens 100% Bent

50% Manor Bent Grass, 50% Jorvik Bent Grass.

  • This mix has been specially designed to withstand very low cutting regimes
  • Excellent throughout the year
  • Perfect for either a new construction or renovation work. 
  • It will offer superior shoot density and disease tolerance.
  • Gives superb summer and winter colour to the greens

HG.1B Premium Greens 100% Bent

70% Denso Bent Grass, 30% Polana Bent Grass.

  • Mid quality with well rated cultivars.
  • Very high shoot density.
  • Excellent for swoing throughout the year for renovation work.
  • Can be used for new green construction .
  • Will tolerate very low cutting regines for fast even and superior greens - can also be used for Bowling Greens.

HG.2 Greens - Creeping Bent

100% Creeping Bent Grass - 50% Cobra Nova / 50% Penn 007

  • Tolerant of extremely close mowing – down to 2.5mm
  • New construction or renovation work
  • Superior spring green up
  • Excellent drought tolerance for the species

HG.3 Greens - Fescue/Bent

45% Bodega Chewing Fescue, 40% Barpearl Slender Creeping Red Fescue, 10% Manor Bent Grass.

  • Suitable for either new or renovation works
  • Excellent all year round greens turf quality                           
  • Good disease tolerance
  • Perfect for combining performance for limited budgets

HMG Greens – Chewing/Bent Grass

90% Bodega Chewing Fescue, 10% Jorvik Bent Grass.

  • Suitable for either new or renovation works
  • Excellent all year round greens turf quality                           
  • Good disease tolerance
  • Perfect for combining performance for limited budgets

HPG Turg Greens - Perennial Rye

40% Topgun Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass. 40% Dickens Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass. 20% Chardin Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass.

  • Sowing to mowing in 9 days (in ideal conditions).
  • Low mowing height as low as 4mm.
  • Performance tested to improve greens that struggle using traditional FesCue & Bent grass.
  • Easy to establish in most soils, very quick to grow.
Excellent dark green colour. High root density and playing charateristics. Excellent wear tolerance and highly competitive nature.
 

Golf Fairways

HF.1 Fairways – No Ryegrass

30% Dumas Hard Fescue, 25% Barperal Slender Creeping Red Fescue, 25% Sergei Strong Creeping Red Fescue, 20% Bodega Chewings Fescue.

  • Provides a fine leafed appearance
  • The exclusion of perennial ryegrass enables less cutting and maintenance – slower to grow
  • Great for all types of soils
  • Improves tolerance to and recovery from drought
  • Perfect for divots and over seeding  

HF.2 Fairways – With Ryegrass

20% Top Gun Perennial Ryegrass, 25% CSI Corsica Creeping Ryegrass, 20% Euromarie Slender Creeping Red Fescue, 20% Maxima Strong Creeping Red Fescue, 15% Wagner Chewings Fescue.

  • A very fast establishing mixture
  • Ideal for rapid renovation where a high level of traffic is expected
  • Can be used for fairways, tees and driving ranges
  • Great wear tolerance
  • Good density at base of sward
  • Excellent re-growth

Golf Tee’s

HT.1 Tees – 100% Ryegrass

50% Top Gun Perennial Ryegrass, 50% Vulcanus Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass.

  • The ryegrass in this mixture will enable a rapidly fast establishment
  • Excellent wear recovery
  • Very good shoot density
  • Helps golf clubs extend the playing season
  • Early spring growth
  • Perfect for areas of high traffic

HT.2 Tees – No Ryegrass

40% Calliope Chewing Fescue, 20% Wagner Chewings Fescue, 20% Barpearl Slender Creeping Red Mixture, 10% Brooklawn Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass, 10% Highland Browntop Bent grass.      

  • Provides  excellent winter colour
  • Drought tolerant
  • Improves tolerance to recovery from drought
  • Slower growing grasses compared to mix above
  • Good for divots and damaged tees

HT.3 Tees – Premier

20% CSI Corsica Creeping Ryegrass, 20% Chardin Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass, 30% Gladys Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass, 30% Beckham Perennial Ryegrass.

  • The ryegrass in this mixture will enable a rapidly fast establishment
  • Excellent wear recovery
  • Very good shoot density
  • Helps golf clubs extend the playing season
  • Early spring growth
  • Perfect for areas of high traffic
  • Very similar to HT.1 but has better variety of grass

Miscellaneous Grass Mixtures

HR.1 – Roughs

30% Dumas Hard Fescue, 40% Maxima Strong Creeping Red Fescue, 15% Joanna Chewings Fescue, 15% Euromarie Slender Creeping Red Fescue.

  • This mix has been specially designed to make rough areas easy to manage
  • Provides a natural rough area for visual merit
  • Grows slowly so less management is required

HM Fescue

25% Barpearl Slender Creeping Red Fescue, 25% Beudin Slender Creeping Red Fescue, 25% Humboldt Chewings Fescue, 25% Bodega Chewings Fescue.

  • This mix provides a good resistance to disease
  • Offers excellent shoot density
  • Can tolerate close mowing
  • Fescues are slow growing and can grow in most areas

HM Tri Fescue

40% Bodega Chewings Fescue, 30% Sergei Strong Creeping Red Fescue, 30% Barpearl Slender Creeping Red Fescue

  • This mix is suitable for most areas of the golf course (tees, fairways and greens)
  • Adapted for areas that may be sandy or suffer drought conditions
  • Can tolerant close mowing

HM Establishment & Recovery

30% Catherine Slender Creeping Red fescue, 30% Maxima Strong Creeping Red Fescue, 20% Carnac Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass, 15% Colossuem Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass, 5% Highland Browntop Bentgrass.

  • High quality multipurpose mix
  • Superb for what its title suggests
  • Offers first class appearance

HM Superior Sward

35% Sergei Strong Creeping red Fescue, 25% Bodega Chewings Fescue, 20% Dumas Hard fescue, 20% Barpearl Slender Red Fescue.

  • This mixture not only produces its title characteristics, but combines excellent density
  • Has excellent recovery rate
  • Hard fescue is a very low maintenance fescue

HM.5 Shade

20% Dwarf Perennial Ryegrass, 28% Strong Creeping Red Fescue, 20% Slender Creeping Red Fescue, 2% Wood Meadow Grass, 10% Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass, 15% Hard Fescue, 5% Browntop Bent.

  • This mix has been specially designed to enable growing in shady areas
  • Will still produce a great winter colour
  • This mix can be mixed with perennial ryegrasses to enable fast growing

HM Versatile

40% Euromarie Slender Creeping Red Fescue, 35% Dickens Dwarf  Perennial Ryegrass, 25% Calliope Chewings Fescue.

  • This mix will be fast growing due to the perennial ryegrass
  • Appropriate for winter greens
  • Will produce a fine finish

HM PTR Tall Fescue

35% Greystone Amenity Tall Fescue, 35% Beagle1 Amenity Tall Fescue, 30% Brockton Amenity Tall Fescue.

  • Grass seed mix idwal for drought pront soils that are free draining.
  • Perfect for warm/summer sports usage and challenging summer wear areas.
  • Excellent in sandy soils.
  • Turf type tall fescue has a lower watering requirement.
  • Very competent rooting system develops quickly allowing turf/plant survival even in very dry conditions.
